Pro Lathe Gage 02-000

This is a handy accessory for any lathe operator. It seems well made. I found calibration a challenge because it was difficult to center the level bubble and keep it centered while carefully tightening the set screw. I suspect that if you took some modeling clay and used it to hold the bubble vial where you want it before tightening the set screw you might find calibration less exasperating. Overall a good quality product with a modest engineering flaw.

Works well

Extremely fast setup of lathe cutters. The bubble level gets the cutter within a couple thou of dead center. Close enough to have a perfect clean up face pass. This will make your expensive coated carbide inserts last much longer. The most important step is to make sure you are setting it directly on the tip of the cutting edge. You do that and eye up the bubble as close to center as you can and it will cut a face pass with no nub. There is no faster way to setup a tool.
